Daily Rec [TV]

Time for a one-day break from music recommendations.  Lost is back with a furious vengeance, and if you haven’t been paying attention, it’s time.  Every episode is packing at least one plot-related revelation, and to say the show has been reinvigorated by having a planned conclusion is to understate things.  Lost was always intermittently capable of being the best show on TV, but it was equally capable of being a meandering disappointment.  By putting a cap on the length of the series, the meandering isn’t necessary any longer, and the show has been condensed into a consistently rewarding state.  If you’re missing out now, there’s reason to think that you’re missing something that’s going to be great.

(To go off on a brief tangent, I don’t think this supports the argument that all American series should be handled like British television, where each series is finite.  If that improved the quality of shows, I wouldn’t have lingering psychic scars from exposure to Torchwood.  Certain concepts are designed to be finite (Lost, Daybreak) and others can go on indefinitely (procedurals in general))
