The New Poll Tax [politics]

This Rachel Maddow video is a must watch. The new poll tax. Believe it or not, this is my #1 reason for hating Bush. Twice we have gone through an election process that was fundamentally broken. Here we are, eight years after the Supreme Court pronounced the winner of the Presidential election and our voting system is STILL BROKEN. There is no excuse for this. I blame Bush for not making this a priority. I blame the Hill for not making legislation to fix this. I blame the media for not raising awareness. And I blame the American people for putting up with this bullshit.

Whatever happens today, whoever wins, we need to fix the system. We need to pump some serious cash into fixing our pathetic, anemic election process. We’re supposed to be democracy’s world leader, instead we look more like a small nation’s first attempt at holding elections. TIGHTEN UP AMERICA!
