Chuck Yeah [tv]

I’m going to come right out and say it. Chuck is one of the best tv shows right now. Period. Exclamation point. No caveat. If you watched this week’s stellar episode in the part 2 of 3 trilogy involving Jordana Brewster’s guest spot, I’d find it hard for you to disagree. What started out as a spy story-of-the-week spoof has turned into one of the more affecting and emotionally rewarding shows that TV has to offer, not to mention THE most fun. I don’t know what’s more fun to watch: Yvonne Strahovski strutting around in skimpy outfits, Adam Baldwin’s (browncoats! w00t!) great straight man work, or Zachary Levi and Joshua Gomez’s total nerding out on a weekly basis (the two real life geeks have rewritten dialogue for the show to more accurately reflect true geek speak). But somewhere along the way, the show found its heart, and has brought together a story of romance and duty that never feels heavy handed or cheesy, and that’s even with the “it” band of the week song playing every episode (Band of Horses, Frightened Rabbit, The Bravery, the list goes on and on). Instead, the show is just a blast, with surprising moments of real emotion in between.
Chuck is pure proof that shows given the space and time to establish the characters succeed in the end, something Ben Silverman is having some trouble with convincing the network heads at NBC to stick with. Meanwhile, we’re being fed more crime-of-the-week or reality nonsense at every other station during prime time, which is a shame being that the best shows on TV (Lost, Mad Men) are slow burners that require faithful viewership.
I implore you to watch Chuck, on HULU, on DVD, wherever. Get through the first half of season one, when the many story arcs take off into the stratosphere and never look back (and your further reward for sticking with it until season 2: Tony Hale of Arrested Development fame tears through the show). Chuck is one of the best shows on right now, you should be watching it.

I completely agree, which is worth noting because you and I seem to love the same Sitcoms+ (e.g. How I Met Your Mother). It’s the heart, man, you gotta love it.
May I also recommend, and possibly thereby spoil our growing common ground here, My Own Worst Enemy. If you hate Christian Slater, it’s not for you, but I was/am a big fan of Heathers, Pump Up the Volume, and True Romance. Not to mention what a gem Very Bad Things was.
So yes, give My Own Worst Enemy a try if you haven’t. It’s finding it’s feet, but I think it’ll get there.
I guess I’ll have to give this a shot. I saw an episode I never liked nor disliked it.
But speaking of new/newish tv series, Sons of Anarchy is a great show that’s really found it’s footing as the first season went on (season ender is the day after the Shield finale).
And N8, that shows been cancelled to the best of my knowledge
edit: I thought I could edit a post and not just delete it. That’s my deleted comment.
